If you know me at all, you know I call myself a tourist in my own town. And having been born and raised in Kelowna, I’ve definitely developed some of my go-to spots and favourite things to do. I’m working on an entire “Okanagan Guide” page on my blog, but in the meantime, I thought I’d put together a little Kelowna Summer Bucket list!
Try the Sweet Corn Queso at FWSY, you won’t regret it.
Pro tip: need a last-minute dish for a BBQ? The Queso is perfect because it’s just as good reheated.
Support local: buy a new book at Mosaic, and take some time for yourself to read it at the beach, maybe Collett Road Beach Access or Farris Road Beach Access?
Walk along the new Bellevue Creek Greenway for 20 minutes which will take you to Barn Owl Brewing and It’s a Bakery for a post-walk beer or treats! The entrance of the walk is at the end of Kincaid Rd. Preview of this trail here.
Check out Jackknife Brewing, I hear the pizza is the bomb. In fact, do a walking brewery tour. Start at Rustic Reel, walk 4 minutes to Red Bird and then 2 minutes to Kettle River, have pizza at Jackknife next door and end 2 minutes away at Vice & Virtue, where I recommend trying the “Love Potion”.
For a longer hike with great views, check out Blue Grouse.
Do a quick hike at Mount Boucherie and then go to Quail’s Gate for wine, oysters and charcuterie after. Go from 2:30 PM to 5:00 PM for their “afternoon menu”. They also have picnic benches on their property near the water, so you could also buy a bottle of wine from them and bring some snacks and chill on the picnic benches!
Buy a cocktail kit from Born to Shake and mix up some at-home cocktails (I personally like the margs).
Whip out your rollerblades or bike (or rent them) and ride along Abbott St. You can park at Kinsmen Park and make your way to City Park. I love browsing at the houses along here!
Rent a paddle board at the Downtown Marina and go for a little rip!
Check out Central’s new renovations and get the OG Mr. Tea Cocktail.
Pack a picnic and hang out at Bertram Creek Park for the day.
The Hatch is a must-go winery. Small and quirky.
Go to Micro for Tapas & Cocktails (get the olives).
Go to Homeblock at Cedar Creek and get the Burrata.
Sit on the boardwalk at the Eldorado at try the “El Capozzi Negroni” warning: it’s a strong one!
Appies and wine at Salt + Brick, the Mac n’ Cheese is a must.
Go to Earls Patio for the view, and half price bottles of wine on Tuesdays.
Book a Smile Cycle Tour with a group, we had such a blast!
Pro tip: book a private tour.
Get Momo Sushi and enjoy it on the ledge by water in City Park. The Spicy Veggie Roll is my fav.
Hang out at Tree Brewing, have a beer and play one of the boardgames they have there.
Pro tip: they have Cards Against Humanity you just have to ask them for it!
Iced Matcha from Giobean
Pro tip: ask for it not blended. Just on ice!
Have Table-Fortynine cook for you.
