Kelowna is slowly but surely becoming more lively all year round, and if you know me you know one of my favourite things to do is head downtown for some appies and drinks. Whether it’s girls night or date night these are a couple of my go-to’s.
Central is the place I go if I’m hungry and I know I’m going to want to eat a meal, because I love the food so much and it’s incredibly consistent. Central is a small neighbourhood local and because of it’s location I’m not sure you would just stumble upon it without intending to go there. I don’t eat meat, but I definitely think that Central is known for it’s burgers, and their “Viva La Vegan” burger is so delicious that even as a non-meat eater, the burger is always what I come back for. That, and a caesar. I would say Central is my #1 post night out spot for a caesar.
- Viva la vegan burger (I add cheese and mushrooms)
- Central Poke Bowl (my favourite poke bowl in town)
- Central CHURROS
- Central Caesar
- Mr. Tea Cocktail
Micro is much like its name, micro.. at 900 square feet of mostly bar, it is very intimate. If you are able to go in the summer there is also a little patio. Micro is definitely best for date night with a friend or partner I think because most of the seating is bar seating. If I want oysters or charcuterie in Kelowna, this is my go to spot. Micro is also wear my love affair for warm olives began. Their creative cocktails are also a reason to stop by on their own.
Go for the Mac + Cheese, that is all.
Just kidding, but not really. You need to try it. Salt & Brick is also one of my go to spot for some appies, and here I will normally enjoy a glass of wine (or 2) as well.
Must tries: Mac + Cheese and brussel sprouts.
This is definitely a more pricey option, but if you are looking for the best of the best in Kelowna, this is one of them in my opinion. Newly opened, they have instantly hit it right out of the park. The aesthetic, the architecture, the food, it’s all 10/10 in my books. The views are also breathtaking. If you aren’t looking for a full sit down dinner, I’d opt to sit at the bar and order some things to share (my preference).
- Alll the wine
Another brand new spot in Kelowna, and another knock out of the park by the crew that opened BNA Brewing Co. in Kelowna (a must see if you haven’t been). Skinny Dukes is a bar and restaurant that takes you to a 70’s house party as soon as you walk in. The decor alone is a reason to check it out! The pizza is a must try.
